With a guide - Luggage transfer
Last updated: 14/01/2023
South Africa, a country with wide open spaces leading us from the desert tracks of the karoo to the beautiful seaside roads. Great beaches, the jungle, the desert, wild animals, a considerable marine fauna, every day is an epic. And let's not forget the exceptional gastronomy and local wines...
We have built here a very balanced and supervised course so that the local guide will make you discover what you will not be able to see with a stranger or without a guide and our team leader will make sure everything is in line with everyone's expectations by ensuring the group's good humor!
This trip is for people who are used to traveling by motorbike and ready to adapt to all situations. Provide an international driving license in addition to your French driving license
Your day by day program
You arrive at Cape Town Airport where you will be met by your local guide for your transfer to your first Cape Town hotel on schedule. Night in the city.
After breakfast, a briefing will be held to prepare for the entire stay. The rest of the day will be devoted to visiting the city of Cape Town, its lively districts, the traditional Malay quarter, the castle and the botanical gardens. In the afternoon you will take the "Cable Car" to reach the summit of Table Moutains. The end of the afternoon will allow you to finalize the motorcycle rental papers for an efficient departure the next morning. Lunch in town and dinner at the waterfront or at the hotel. Night at the hotel.
This is the big departure to the Cape Town peninsula. You will pass the harbour of Hout bay before riding along the spectacular Chapman's Peak. Cape point welcomes you with its Hyraxes, antelopes and baboons and you will take the famous shot in front of the sign of the Cape of Good Hope. You continue to Boulder beach to meet the African penguins. From there, you will take the direction of the historic town of Stellenbosch, famous for its wine! You will have dinner at the restaurant or at a wine farm.
About 160 km and 4 hours drive.
In the saddle we cross the magnificent Helshoogte Pass, one of the most popular routes in the Western Cape, connecting Stellenbosch to the charming and characterisitc town of Franschhoek, where we will stop for coffee. If we are there on a Saturday, the local market is a real joy! Let's get ready for breathtaking landscapes, Franschhoek pass, Theewaterskloof Dam, etc. We will take a break in a magnificent wine farm in Robertson where we will discover one of the oldest cellars in the region. The opportunity to take a few bottles to enjoy in the evening at the hotel. We then join the famous R62 and discover at Barrydale the Diesel & Crème Café, which will remind some of the USA. A few meters away, we will find our accommodation for the night in a Victorian style house.
240 km and 3 hours 45 of road approximately.
We leave the small town of Barrydale on the R62 and quickly make a stop in the essential café bar Ronnie Sex Shop. A bad joke that turned into a nice commercial success, we will make you discover that on the spot. If you have a spare bra, you can leave it hanging on the ceiling of the bar with many others... We continue in a desert area until reaching one of the ostrich farms in the region. Did you know that an ostrich feather was more expensive just over a century ago than its weight in gold? We will discover many interesting facts on the farm and it is also an opportunity to bring back memories. Ostrich leather is one of the strongest in the world. Overnight in Oudtshoorn in a beautiful hotel surrounded by nature.
195 km and around 3 hours drive.
This morning, if you feel like it, we can go and discover curious little animals, the meerkats. This option is reserved for early risers because to see them, you must be on their territory at sunrise. Then, we leave to discover the famous caves of the region, the Cango Caves. Huge rooms await us in a place discovered by a farmer in the last century. Then, get ready to take in the sights while driving on one of the most scenic routes of our tour. The iconic Swartberg Pass, offers a spectacular ride and is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. This is also where we start to make tracks. The all-terrain tyres fitted for this trip on our motorcycles will show their efficiency. We will follow the tracks with a few portions of tar until the evening stage, via landscapes that are as desert as they are exceptional. Watch out for the giant lizards that sometimes cross the track! Stop for the night in a very local small town which does not lack character...
211 km and 4 hours drive.
We leave early for a long day. The track of the day before will have put us at ease and we will reach the coast by a magnificent track in the heart of a pretty valley then in a more rugged landscape which will join farming areas. A real joy, this day of riding. We finally reach the road that approaches us from the coast and the superb Jeffreys Bay, also known as a magnificent surf spot. It's time to take out our bikinis for a surf lesson (available on the beach) or to join one of the bars with a surf atmosphere by the sea. The small town also houses factory outlets like Quicksilver, Billabong... for amateurs. Our accommodation is close to the beach. Out into town for the evening to recover from this long day.
260 km and around 6 hours drive.
We will relax today. Free for those who wish to spend some time in Jeffrey's Bay before the departure which will take us on the famous Garden Route. The route is rolling and allows us to take our time and admire the landscapes. We will make a slight detour through Nature Valley and discover this magnificent white sand beaches surrounded by greenery. Then, let's not waste too much time because our accommodation this evening is superb and is waiting for us to prepare a braai, the South African barbecue which is an art in this country where the meat is not expensive and is of excellent quality. Accompanied by a small glass of red, happiness! Overnight in Plettenberg in a charming establishment.
180 km and 2 and a half hours drive.
We leave Plettenberg after a rich breakfast and join via a pretty forest, Knysna and its small waterfront for a coffee break. Then we have the 7 passes route, a beautiful route mixing tracks and roads in very changing landscapes. We leave the small tracks to resume the road and join the place of our animal safari where we will have our lunch. After the safari, we join our rustic farmhouse inn by night.
250 km and approximately 4 hours 30.
This morning we take the coast road then a track which will lead us through the farms to the ferry crossing the river. The only way to get to the other side for decades. Still further south, we reach the tip of Africa -Cape Agulhas- and also the division between the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean. Another great opportunity for memorable photos. We take the road then the track to join a nice establishment producing its wine and an exceptional craft beer (and I am a connoisseur!). Lunch stop before heading north-west to Stanford. Dinner taken in the beautiful farmhouse where we stay.
About 255 km and 4.45 hours on the road.
For this day, we will join Hermanus, capital of whaling whose echoes are omnipresent. It is the moment to embark on the discovery of these magnificent cetaceans... And for those who are not cold in the eyes, it is also possible to immerse yourself in a cage in the middle of white sharks (the quality of metal of the cage depends on the price paid)... To end this day in style an optional boat cruise on the river is offered with the possibility of barbecue on the boat and if the weather is nice, it is paradise... Back at our hotel in Stanford.
50 km and 1 hour approximately.
We leave Stanford, go through Hermanus and this is your last chance to taste one of the huge local oysters. We then follow the coast and its numerous bays to reach Clarens Drive. It is a spectacular route where the mountains covered with fynbos fall directly into the ocean. A spectacle to see and in magnificent colors if the sun is there! Arriving in Cape Town, we return the motorbikes before reaching our hotel for a final night.
About 160 km and 3 hours drive.
For those who finish their stay, transfer to the airport. For those who wish to extend their adventure, we also offer extensions to Kruger Park or the Victoria falls, to be done at least once in your life!
