The Vercors is a fantastic piece of road with the Col du Rousset and its nice hairpins followed by short straights. It is undoubtedly the most extraordinary natural site in the Drôme department, with spectacular views and majestic cliffs.

The Ardèche volcanoes

Today’s journey of discovery will lead you to ride in the direction of the Natural Regional Park of the Ardèche Mounts and the splendid Mont-Gerbier-de-Jonc. The Loire River, which is the longest in France, has its source in the springs of the side of this mount, located in the south of the Cévenne hills. Speed off onto delightful meandering roads for sensational thrills, with peaceful and protected natural landscapes in the background.

The Diois

Hop on your motorbike and cruise down to the Diois and the south of the Drôme to discover villages nestled at the foot of a mountain or perched on green rolling hills. On your way there, you will be able to stop at Crest, admire the highest dungeon in Europe, and get to taste the ‘Clairette de Die’, a local and natural sparkling white wine. The roads of the ‘Gorges des Gas’ and the ‘Col de Cabre’ will give you a handful of scenic views and good fast sweepers, before reaching the waterfalls of the ‘Saut de la Drôme’ at Luc-en-Diois.

Dinner in a table d’hôte and night in a guesthouse.

Distance: approximately 180km.

5
The Mont-Ventoux, a symbolic feature of Provence

Ride on to discover the south of the Drôme. Authentic and charming little villages abound in this part of the region, such as Nyons with its olive groves and lavender farms or Grignan and its sumptuous castle. Once you arrive at the Col d’Ey, you will discover the windswept summit of the ‘Giant of Provence’. Culminating at 1912m, the Mont-Ventoux will sweep you away to dreamy lunar landscapes. A smooth road will take you there, with nice curves through beech groves and cedar tree forests, sprinkled with limestone boulders.

Dinner in a table d’hôte and night in a guesthouse.

Distance: approximately 200km.

6
The Ardèche Gorge, a beautiful 'natural reserve'

A spectacular ride back in time awaits you today. Starting from cliff tops, dominating the Ardèche River, you will continue to ride along roads where you will be able to admire natural caves, some of which are of great geological or archeological importance.
